Preparation before a lesson is a big part of teaching and requires a bit of time and thought. It's a good idea to sit down and write a Lesson plan or outline before teaching. Some things to consider:
Lesson Plans are a great tool for organizing how a teacher wants to present material and structure class activities. They are really essential for all teachers.
That being said, there are so many other areas of teaching that go beyond lesson planning. Something as simple as being kind and patient are just as valuable as timing and interaction. As a teacher, your not only responsible for preparing lessons, but also teaching by example and conveying a moral and ethical code the children can look up to and emulate. A teacher is also a role model. Finding or making props for class are a basic part of good teaching in an ESL classroom for young learners. Many children learn by using several of there senses including sight and touch. A great way to introduce them to new things is by using realia or objects from real life to give a deeper meaning and create a more festive atmosphere in class. Some common props include cups, blocks, puppets, dice, and flashcards

Awards and achievement ceremonies are great for congratulating students on completing a level or having a high score in class. They are also an opportunity for parents to meet and watch teachers around their kids. The students should demonstrate what they have learned in class. Certificates should be awarded at the end of the lesson.
In today's modern world teachers must constantly strive to be innovative in the classroom and present more complex lessons using the latest technology available. As an educator who started out with felt boards and graduated on to Interactive white boards, I can tell you that having more technology in the classroom is a great advantage for students and teachers. We are now able to use interactive software that allows us to listen to music, watch movies, and play games, keeping our students more focused and interested.
