Communicating and managing parents expectations for their children is very important. Parents can be your biggest supporters when it comes to your students education and behavior. 
Honesty is the best policy, especially when dealing with parents. Meeting and talking with them regularly will benefit everyone as it will avoid any unpleasant conversations in the future about why their son or daughter is not performing well in class.
